The globally active chemical company supports the Italian association Nuvolando Odv with a donation

Families with disabled children face many challenges, not least because therapies that can help the children in their development are often difficult to find and in many cases the costs are not covered by health insurance. This puts low-income families in particular at an additional disadvantage. In order to help these families access the important therapies for their children, Zschimmer & Schwarz has donated 14,700 euros to the Italian organisation Nuvolando Odv. The money was used to completely cover the costs of weekly therapies for eleven children from low-income families for one year. The donation was initiated by Tiziana Borla, employee of Zschimmer & Schwarz Italiana based in Tricerro, Italy, who suggested the project as part of the chemical company's donation campaign.

The Nuvolando Odv association, based in the province of Novara in the Piedmont region, offers a range of therapy options, including physiotherapy and speech therapy, as well as psychological support for children with disabilities. Currently, 45 children between the ages of 2 and 18 regularly attend the association's outpatient rehabilitation centre. "Although we already offer the private treatment options at lower prices, we know that the expenses put an enormous strain on the budget of many families," explains Tiziano Milan, the president of Nuvolando Odv. "We are therefore very grateful for the donation from Zschimmer & Schwarz and are happy that we have been able to support eleven families for a year."

On the occasion of the company’s 125-year anniversary in 2019, the shareholders of the Zschimmer & Schwarz Group started a special charitable programme: all employees around the world were asked to present local initiatives that the company could support with a donation. This donation campaign went into the next round in 2022 and will be repeated every two years in the future.

Nuvolando Odv is one of more than 20 organisations and projects across Europe supported by Zschimmer & Schwarz as part of the donation campaign with a total sum of around 250,000 euros. “Social responsibility and sustainable action have been part of the DNA of our family business Zschimmer & Schwarz ever since it was founded”, explains Gisela Rochow, shareholder of the Zschimmer & Schwarz Group. “We are happy that our donations have a direct impact in the locations where our companies are based and that we can thus give something valuable back to society”, adds Thomas Schwarz, also shareholder of Zschimmer & Schwarz.
