COMMUNITY AND SOLIDARITY

Thinking globally, helping locally: as a global company, Zschimmer & Schwarz accepts its responsibility for the common good of our society. Our family business has been upholding a philosophy based on mutual respect and care since its formation in the year 1894. Since the company was founded in 1894, social responsibility and sustainable action have been part of the DNA of our family business.

“For more than 125 years, our company has consistently laid the focus of our activities on our fellow human beings”, explains Monika Börner, shareholder of the Zschimmer & Schwarz Group. “With this philosophy, we aim to give something valuable back to society and to involve ourselves in projects that deliver direct and sustainable effects at our business locations.”

To mark the 125th anniversary of the Zschimmer & Schwarz Group in 2019, a charitable programme was set up on the initiative of the shareholder families. All employees around the world were invited to suggest local initiatives that the company could support with a donation. In 2022, this campaign entered its second round and will be repeated every two years from now on.

In total, more than 20 social projects of various kinds were selected in Europe, which are supported by Zschimmer & Schwarz with around 250,000 euros.

The private and independent parents' initiative #proKidsBraubach has set itself the goal of creating a place for fun and adventure on a forgotten playground at the foot of Marksburg Castle. On an adventure playground, children will have the opportunity to playfully experience and discover nature. After the first subprojects were successfully implemented last year, the focus is now on playground equipment.

The donation will be used to purchase a mud table with a water course, which allows children to come into contact with the element of water in a playful way and to experiment with it.

Insect paradise and herb garden

NABU Burgstädt e. V., which has been committed to nature conservation in the region for many years, would like to further expand the so-called apple nature trail with the natural gardens.

The apple nature trail, which includes cherry and pear trees as well as apple trees, is located in the Mulden and Chemnitztal landscape conservation area and is home to many animals and plants. Visitors of all ages can learn more about orchards from educational boards and are sensitised to their preservation.

Last year, an allotment garden that had previously been used conventionally as well as an adjacent vacant garden were taken over for further development. Initial work has already been carried out, for example the construction of a stone biotope and the planting of shrubs and apple trees.

The donation will be used for the further implementation and design of a renaturalised area with a special focus on native and insect-friendly plants and herbs.

Beyond the clouds

Beyond the clouds – coverage of the treatment costs for children from low-income families

Donation amount: €14,700

Learn more ...

Beyond the clouds

The Nuvolando Odv association, based in the province of Novara in the Piedmont region, offers a wide range of therapies, such as physiotherapy, speech therapy and psychological support for children with disabilities in an outpatient rehabilitation centre. Currently, 45 children between the ages of 2 and 18 regularly attend the centre.

Especially for financially disadvantaged families, it is often difficult to pay for such therapies, which are not covered by health insurance. Although Nuvolando already offers these private treatment options at cheaper prices, the expenses put an enormous strain on the budget of many families and present them with great financial challenges.

The goal is to use our donation to cover the complete treatment costs for 11 children from very low-income families for one year.

Food as glue for sociability

Food as glue for sociability

The old people's and nursing home in Livorno Ferraris in the Italian province of Vercelli, Piedmont region, is supposed to get its own kitchen with an adjoining dining room.

Currently, the meals for the residents are still prepared in another nearby facility and delivered.

With an in-house kitchen, it will not only be possible to consider the special dietary needs and wishes of the senior citizens, but the residents would also be able to play an active role in designing the menu, and regional foods and specialities could be included. The dining room adjoining the kitchen is to become a sociable place where the elderly can experience pleasant moments together as well as with their relatives, which unfortunately has hardly been possible recently, especially due to the Corona pandemic.
