This project of the Department of Mathematics/Natural Sciences at the University of Koblenz aims to bring together around 30 pupils from advanced courses in the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)in a two-day intensive event every year. The aim of this event is to promote young talents in the fields of chemistry and physics and to inspire them to choose a career in the STEM fields.
In interdisciplinary tandems, the pupils will cooperatively work together on real, environment-related problems, develop solutions, build prototypes and then present their results. During the implementation in spring 2025, the pupils will use specially developed analysis equipment and setups that are adapted to the different requirements on land, in the air and on the ground. With their help, the pupils will “hack” the environment by gaining and interpreting data and deriving recommendations from it.
The donation will be used to purchase the necessary materials and equipment – such as sensors, microcontrollers and laboratory equipment – as well as to cover the costs of support staff and prizes for outstanding projects.
