With the establishment of a chemicals wholesaler in Chemnitz, Germany, on 1 January 1894, Otto Zschimmer and Max Schwarz laid the foundation for a long history of success: accompanied by numerous activities, Zschimmer & Schwarz is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. 

The year 2019 at Zschimmer & Schwarz will be marked by the anniversary motto “The mix that matters”. This motto symbolises the diversity and uniqueness which have always distinguished Zschimmer & Schwarz. Two founders, Otto Zschimmer and Max Schwarz, have accomplished great things together. Today, the seven business divisions develop solutions for a wide variety of industries. And above all, employees from all over the world work together to improve people's lives with the help of speciality chemicals.

The past 125 years have been a significant journey for Zschimmer & Schwarz; a true success story that will be continued for many years to come. That is why Zschimmer & Schwarz has sent a tour container as an ambassador of the anniversary around the world. The container illustrates the history of Zschimmer & Schwarz, the company’s traditions and values ​​as well as its seven business divisions in an interactive way. Moreover, exchange and communication across all cultural, linguistic and national borders take centre stage: for example, employees can take photos or videos, introduce themselves or send messages to their international colleagues.

On 13 September 2018, the container’s journey started in Lahnstein. Travelling across six continents, the tour container will make stops at a total of ten subsidiaries of Zschimmer & Schwarz – four of which it has already visited by now. At the beginning of September 2019, when the container returns to Lahnstein as a true globetrotter, it will have covered almost 27,000 kilometers. There, the tour container will meet seven other containers, which show what the individual business divisions of Zschimmer & Schwarz do and what they stand for.

In mid-September, a special highlight of this year’s festivities awaits the staff of Zschimmer & Schwarz: the 125th anniversary will be duly celebrated with a big event for all employees from Germany and Wissembourg.
