Sustainability is firmly anchored in the corporate strategy of the Zschimmer & Schwarz Group. In this context we are committed to setting ambitious, measurable climate targets according to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). A key lever for achieving these goals is the analysis of our own products, in particular the precise calculation of carbon emissions at the product level – the so-called Product Carbon Footprint (PCF). To ensure a uniform methodology, we have implemented a Group-wide PCF guideline. 

This guideline has now been officially validated by GUTcert GmbH and meets the highest international standards:

• ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 (Life Cycle Assessment/LCA)
• ISO 14067 (PCF requirements)
• TfS Guideline (Together for Sustainability, Version 3.0) of the chemical industry

In a newly established department, we have now begun the systematic determination of our product-related greenhouse gas emissions. Dr. Christoph Riemer, Chief Executive Officer of the Zschimmer & Schwarz Group, emphasizes the strategic relevance: “With the validated PCF guideline, we are creating a reliable foundation for transparent sustainability across our entire value chain. It enables us to precisely make product-level emissions measurable visible and to further develop our portfolio consistently towards climate protection and emission reduction, alongside other important sustainability aspects such as biodegradability and the use of renewable or recycled raw materials.”
