Zschimmer & Schwarz supports therapy center for children in Ukraine

Thanks to a donation from the chemical company, a therapy center could be established in Kharkiv, Ukraine

The Amigó Foundation, a Spanish non-profit organization, organizes a solidarity campaign every year to support various social projects in Europe. Last year, they teamed up with the Caritas aid organization in Kharkiv to implement a project that benefits children affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine: A house on the outskirts of Kharkiv was purchased to be converted into a therapy center. Children can receive targeted emotional, social and psychological help at the facility. On the initiative of Carlos Vivas, General Manager of the Spanish subsidiary of Zschimmer & Schwarz, the project was supported with a donation of 6,000 euros as part of the chemical company's donation campaign.

"Despite the ongoing war, many Ukrainians are trying to live their lives as normally as possible. However, many children in particular are suffering from the difficult conditions and traumatic experiences," says Carlos Vivas, who suggested the project for a donation. “The Amigó Foundation and Caritas Kharkiv have realized a great project here that helps the children on site. By now the house on the outskirts of Kharkiv has been renovated and play equipment for the children has been installed outside so that meetings and activities can take place here.”

The donation campaign of Zschimmer & Schwarz was initiated by the shareholder families and is now an integral part of the company's social commitment. It takes place every two years and entered its third round in 2024. All employees have the opportunity to suggest local initiatives to be supported by the company with a donation.

The Amigó Foundation is one of 39 projects across Europe, North and South America as well as Asia supported by Zschimmer & Schwarz as part of the donation campaign with a total sum of around 350,000 euros. “For more than 130 years, our family company Zschimmer & Schwarz has consistently laid the focus of our activities on our fellow human beings. With this philosophy, we aim to give something valuable back to society,” explains Dr. Monika Börner, family shareholder of the Zschimmer & Schwarz Group. “We are happy to support initiatives of our employees and to involve ourselves in projects that deliver direct and sustainable effects at our business locations,” adds Thomas Schwarz, also family shareholder of Zschimmer & Schwarz.
