Hospitals receive donation from Zschimmer & Schwarz

The chemical company donates almost 100,000 Euro to hospitals and aid organisations in Italy

To fight the corona pandemic, Zschimmer & Schwarz has made donations to several hospitals and associations of the Italian Red Cross in the province Vercelli in the Piedmont region. The institutions are located in the immediate vicinity of Zschimmer & Schwarz Italiana in Tricerro. With the donation, the company expresses its solidarity with the region and supports the local emergency services and medical personnel in their fight against the coronavirus.

Right from the start of the pandemic in Italy, Zschimmer & Schwarz Italiana pursued two important goals, explains Dr Giorgio Mosso, Managing Director of the Italian subsidiary: "On the one hand, protecting our employees was of course our top priority. We took numerous measures to prepare for the new situation, for example mobile working, comprehensive hygiene concepts and protective equipment for employees, and a reorganisation of daily processes. Secondly, it was important for us to support the regional aid organisations and hospitals in the area, that have done so much since the start of the corona pandemic."

Zschimmer & Schwarz donated almost 100,000 Euro to a total of five different organisations. The Hospital Sant'Andrea in Vercelli used the donation to purchase two ultrasound machines for the intensive care unit, and a medical ventilator was co-financed at the Hospital Maggiore in Novara. The Hospital Santo Spirito in Casale Monferrato used the money to provide external hospital accommodation for patients who do not need to stay in the intensive care unit but are not yet able to leave the hospital. At the Red Cross in Trino Vercellese, personal protective equipment was purchased for the Covid ambulance, and the Red Cross in Vercelli purchased a vehicle for the transport of patients. This vehicle will be named in memory of the former Managing Director of Zschimmer & Schwarz Italiana, Giovanni Villa, who died last year during the first wave of Covid-19.
