Second place for Zschimmer & Schwarz at international architecture prize

Fincibec Group awards the design of the company’s new headquarters in Lahnstein with the Quinquennial Tile Award

Every five years, the prestigious Quinquennial Tile Award by Fincibec Group honours exceptional tile and ceramics works in the areas of design and architecture. All residential, public, commercial or industrial projects completed between 2015 and 2020 were eligible to compete for the sixth edition of the award.

Zschimmer & Schwarz submitted the design of the foyer and cafeteria of the company’s new headquarters in Lahnstein for the award. The construction project was completed just in time for the company’s 125th anniversary in 2019 and combines the long-standing history of the family-owned company with a clear vision for the future.

The new Zschimmer & Schwarz headquarters showcases the company’s decade-long expertise in the area of chemical specialities for tiles and ceramics: laid in a “Roman bond” without cross joints, the tiles give the foyer area and cafeteria a bright, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Just as versatile and multifaceted as chemistry, the tiles are as varied and innovative as the company’s tailor-made solutions. Their design was awarded second place by Fincibec Group. The award was presented on 27 September at the Cersaie trade exhibition in Bologna, the leading exhibition for ceramics and bathroom furnishings worldwide. The Zschimmer & Schwarz Group will donate the prize money to the Association for the Promotion of the University and the Technical Schools for Ceramics e. V. in Höhr-Grenzhausen.

The company’s General Manager Dr Martin Haberl and the entire staff are excited about the distinction: “Zschimmer & Schwarz has more than 60 years of experience in the development and production of chemical auxiliaries for the ceramics industry. We are delighted that this expertise has now taken hold in our new headquarters in Lahnstein. To continue our successful history, we will donate the prize money to the Association for the Promotion of the University and the Technical Schools for Ceramics e. V. in Höhr-Grenzhausen. We want to support the young generation and give up-and-coming talents a chance to shape the future together with us.”
